Volunteering with us can be an extremely enjoyable and rewarding experience. We offer two volunteer roles: Befriender and Peer Mentor. We aim to fit each person’s experience, skills and knowledge to the volunteer roles we offer. Become a volunteer with us and you could also gain a range of valuable skills and experiences.
At our service we have two types of volunteering opportunities available; Peer Mentors and Befrienders.
In both volunteering roles you will be responsible for supporting people who are experiencing mental ill health.
As a Peer Mentor:
You will help our clients develop their skills through running your own groups out in the community. Some examples that our brilliant volunteers currently run are: Mindfulness, Yoga, read & relax and open sessions.
As a Befriender:
You will help people by offering them friendship, practical assistance with day to day tasks and helping them feel more connected to their community.
What we are looking for
While previous experience is definitely helpful, it is not essential as training will be provided. We are looking for highly motivated people who are committed to helping others through empathetic, kind and compassionate actions. Good communication is also very important. We support a range of different people and understanding diversity is essential to this volunteer role.
What can we offer you?
As a volunteer you will get a DBS check, receive training, supervision and any additional support that you may need.
You will also gain valuable skills such as mentoring, managing people, leadership and interpersonal communication.
